English Composition I (ENGL101)
This course in English composition is designed to improve the student’s understanding and application of the writing process. Included are selecting and restricting topics; understanding audience and purpose; devising a plan of development; identifying appropriate supporting details and evidence; and proper grammar usage; along with subordination; coordination, unity; coherence; consistency in format and style; and conciseness. Skills used in developing and writing a research paper are emphasized. (Placement is determined by a diagnostic English assessment or by satisfactory completion of ENGL 099.) This course meets the prerequisite for MGMT 305; it also satisfies the requirement for a general education English composition course.
